  • How often do you hold free shopping days?

Free shopping days are held approximately every three months. We do, however, hold some invitation only events between the free days. To see what’s coming up next go to the EVENTS page.

  • Where do you hold your events?

Closet events are held in the church that sponsors the ministry. If you need directions to an event go to our LOCATIONS page.

  • What kinds of items do you take as donations?

We are primarily a clothing ministry but we accept other donations as well. Items such as book bags, purses, blankets and bed linens are always in short supply and go quickly at our events. Oh yeah, we’re a volunteer ministry so we also take cash donations to pay for our supplies. For more information go to the DONATE page.

  • Where can I drop off donations?

You can drop off donations at any of our LOCATIONS.

  • I would really like to be involved as a volunteer. What’s the best way to get “plugged in”?

You can get involved by sending us an email or calling us – the information is on our CONTACT page. Another way to get “plugged in” is to go to EVENTS, find an event you would like to be involved with and click on the volunteer registration button. You’ll be taken to Eventbrite where you will fill in a very short form.  When the event happens, we’ll be looking for you and we’ll welcome you with open arms. For the record…we love it when people volunteer!

  • How many paid staff members work for The Closet?

That would be zero – we are an all volunteer ministry. Everything we receive, whether it’s clothing or money, goes into running The Closet.

  • Do I need an appointment to come to a free shopping day?

Absolutely not.  Free shopping days are open to anyone who has a financial need. We don’t ask any personal financial questions, we just give stuff away. We like to leave the judging to God.

  • How does a free shopping day work?

It’s a lot like going to a small department store except everything is free. When you arrive, we assign you a time during the day to shop and an amount of “Closet dollars” to spend. All you have to do is come at your appointed time and decide what you want out of the thousands of items to choose from. Click here to learn more about HOW FREE SHOPPING DAYS WORK.

  • How many locations do you have?

There are currently seven Closet locations. We also have regular inquiries from churches who are asking about setting up their own Closet so that could change pretty quickly. Go to our LOCATIONS page if you would like to get information on each location.

  • If I wanted to set up The Closet in my area where would I start?

We have almost everything you need to start The Closet in your area. Go to our cleverly titled page START THE CLOSET IN YOUR AREA and we’ll give you all the details.

  • If I need immediate help, can The Closet help me?

Helping people when they are in a crises situation is something The Closet does often. If you need immediate assistance just CONTACT us by email or phone and we will set up a private shopping event for you.
